RASAYANAM, a brainchild of the M.Sc. 2012-13 batch emerged as the first intercollegiate Chemistry Festival of the Chemistry Department, ICT. Attracting 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students across Mumbai University, the two days festival was one of its kind with Chemistry being highlighted in various events like:

Rasayanam was sworn in as the official M.Sc. Chemistry festival of Chemistry Department, ICT since 2013.

The department of Chemistry was established for the purpose of conducting high end research in areas of basic and applied chemistry. The M.Sc. Chemistry programme was started in 2009 by the initiative of Prof. S.D. Samant. In 2014, the M.Sc. programme was accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK.

The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) Mumbai was established as the Department of Chemical Technology on 1st October, 1933 by the University of Mumbai, through active support of industries and philanthropists. With a glorious history of 81 years, ICT has carved a niche for itself with a stellar performance in the area of Chemistry and technology. It is the alma mater of many industrialists, academics, bureaucrats, Padma awardees, secretaries to Government Departments, directors of CSIR labs and over 500 first generation entrepreneurs.

 

The institute has very strong linkages with industry and has produced some of the topmost academicians and industrialists.

 

Apart from the Chemical Engineering courses, the institute also runs a lot of courses in Chemistry like Masters in Chemistry and doctoral programmes, enhanced by sophisticated instrumentation and facilities on campus.
